Old Post Office opens as new pub with Hartbrights help
As you can see from the photo above, Amber Taverns and the staff were delighted to open this new pub in Bromsgrove. And we were delighted to provide the signage.
The Old Post Office resides, unsurprisingly, in the premises of an old post office. Amber Taverns wanted to retain the link and commissioned us to produce suitable signage to do so.
Here’s what the old post office looked like before Amber took it over.
The project involved the standard 3D lettering spelling out the name of the pub and, best of all, a custom made projecting sign in the shape of a Royal Mail postbox.
We thought we’d show you how a sign of this nature – unusual to say the least – is produced.
- The postbox is crafted and cut from Foamex, including the detail you can see.
- The crown and other features are cut from the same Foamex as the body to ensure it looks just like the real thing.
- The postbox is them prepped for spraying in our paint shop.
- Several coats of the familiar postbox red is applied.
- The sign is checked for any runs or other issues.
- Finally, it gets the sign off to go to the workshop for the detail work.
- A layer of yellow paint is applied before gold leaf is applied to the lettering and crown.
- Careful application is carried out by our expert sign makers.
- A little tidying up and she’ll be good to go.
- The gilding is complete and it only remains to apply the final details.
- Such as the collection times!
- And whil all this is going on, the lettering for the more traditional pub signs is cut, painted and prepared.
With the in house hard work complete, it only remained for our fitters to head to Bromsgrove and install the new signage.
We are happy with the outcome and so is the client. A quick peak inside shows The Old Post Office is a fantastic addition to Bromsgrove’s pub scene. If you’re in the area you should pop in.
