Hartbrights signage finds Sanctuary in Newcastle-under-Lyme
If you follow us on Instagam you may well have seen one of our most recent projects in the making. Sanctuary is a new cocktail bar opening in Newcastle-under-Lyme at the end of this month (November 2018) and it now boasts some of our most stylish and intricate signage.
To the front there is gilded, halo lit 3D lettering spelling out the name of the bar, while inside you will find an acrylic encased neon sign above the bar.
It was the 3D lettering that involved much of the work. Mounted on a stylish steel rail, each letter was carefully painted in 1 Shot Paints gold before Wrights of Lymm 23.5 carat gold leaf crackle gilding was painstakingly applied.
Lighting was then installed to the rear of each letter and capped with coloured acrylic so when lit it produced a gold halo around each letter. Take a look at the work involved.
-
Gold 1 Shot Paint applied to each letter.
-
Prep work in progress.
-
Wright's of Lymm 23.5 carat gold leaf crackly gilding applied.
-
Each letter is done individually while the gold paint is still tacky.
-
The halo lighting is tested to ensure the gilding looks perfect before the excess is removed.
-
With the excess gilding removed you can see the tarnished effect it gives the lettering.
-
Even under lighting the gilding stands up to close scrutiny.
-
All letters complete, it's time to see how it looks lit up in the dark.
-
We think it looks fantastic.
-
Close up you can see how the coloured acrylic really produces a gold halo around the lettering.
The signage was installed earlier this week – it really looks the part, bringing a touch of class to the exterior and a sense of fun to the interior.
